KUWAIT CITY, May 11: President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser, reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing cooperation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to further develop Kuwait's Olympic movement and support youth participation in both summer and winter sports.
His remarks came in a statement issued by the Kuwait Olympic Committee during Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser’s visit to Kirsty Coventry, the IOC President-elect, at her residence in Kuwait. The visit took place on the sidelines of the 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, which is currently being held over two days.
Sheikh Fahad highlighted the vital role Kuwaiti sports play within the Olympic community, noting that Kuwait has proudly hosted the headquarters of the Olympic Council of Asia since its establishment in 1982. He also expressed confidence in Coventry’s leadership, emphasising her Olympic background and wishing her success in her upcoming presidential term beginning in June.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, Hussein Al-Musallam, along with several senior IOC officials. The gathering concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields between the two sides, symbolising mutual respect and ongoing collaboration.
