KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Sheikh Sabah Fahad Al-Nasser, Chairman of the Supreme Horse Racing Committee and Secretary-General of the Kuwait Hunting and Equestrian Club, has called on the Public Authority for Sport to approach Kuwait Municipality to allocate a dedicated site for horse stables.
Sheikh Al-Nasser said a recent survey identified 1,884 horses housed in 235 stables currently located in desert areas across Kuwait.
The horses include locally bred Kuwaiti horses, Thoroughbreds, and purebred Arabian horses used in sprint racing and marathon competitions.
He stressed the need to preserve this national asset while supporting horse owners and traditional equestrian sports, calling for a suitable site capable of accommodating the large number of horses and providing proper facilities and a safe environment.
“Given the importance of preserving this national wealth and supporting horse owners and traditional sports, a dedicated and suitable site is needed to accommodate these stables and provide an appropriate environment for the horses,” Al-Nasser said.
