KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: Sheikh Khaled Al-Badr, President of the Kuwaiti and Asian Swimming Federations, congratulated Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, on his appointment as President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for a new term lasting until 2028. The announcement followed the presidential election held during the 46th OCA General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, attended by more than 350 senior sports officials representing 45 Asian National Olympic Committees and several international organizations.

Sheikh Al-Badr also extended his congratulations to Sheikh Fahd Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, on his appointment as OCA Vice President.

Highlighting Sheikh Joaan’s contributions, Sheikh Al-Badr noted his initiatives and achievements have greatly advanced Asian sports, strengthened its presence on the global Olympic stage, and enhanced Qatar’s international reputation through the successful hosting of regional and international events.

Sheikh Al-Badr praised the close fraternal ties between him and Sheikh Joaan, as well as the ongoing collaboration between the Kuwaiti and Asian Swimming Federations and the OCA.

He also commended Sheikh Fahd Nasser for his commitment to supporting the OCA’s mission and actively contributing to its future goals, as emphasized during the General Assembly.
