KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: How did a Gulf national whose name was on Kuwait’s travel ban list manage to leave the country through a land border crossing? Was it an administrative lapse, or was there something more behind the incident? These are among the questions being examined after the Ministry of Interior referred a civil servant working at a border crossing to the Public Prosecution.

According to a security source, the ministry received information that the woman had departed Kuwait despite being subject to a travel ban. An investigation subsequently raised suspicions that a civil servant born in 1984 had enabled her to leave the country illegally.

The employee has been referred to the Public Prosecution on charges that include facilitating the departure of a person prohibited from travelling, with legal action to be taken in accordance with the findings of the case.

However, the investigation file reportedly does not clarify why the woman was placed on the travel ban list. It also contains no confirmed information establishing whether the employee received a bribe in exchange for facilitating her departure.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s exit and the employee’s alleged role remain subject to the legal process. The referral to the Public Prosecution marks the next stage in determining how the travel ban was bypassed and whether further violations occurred.
