Shaaban elected deputy head of the Islamic Solidarity Athletes Committee

TAIF, Saudi Arabia, Sept. 13: Kuwait Olympic Committee Board Member and Athletes Committee Chairman Abdullah Shaaban has been elected Deputy Chairman of the Athletes Committee of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation for the 2026-29 term.

The election took place during the 15th General Assembly of the federation in Taif, Saudi Arabia.

Shaaban’s election strengthens Kuwait’s representation within the federation and reflects the growing confidence in Kuwaiti sports expertise at the regional and Islamic levels.

In his new role, Shaaban will contribute to initiatives to develop athletes’ programs, increase their involvement in sports decision-making, and convey their views and needs to help improve the sporting system across member countries.

The new term is expected to feature several programs focused on developing sport and strengthening cooperation among member states. Shaaban’s presence on the Athletes Committee further enhances Kuwait’s representation at regional, international, and Islamic sporting forums.
