KUWAIT CITY, May 2: The Meteorology Department, under the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, has issued a weather warning for active, dust-raising winds that are expected to significantly reduce horizontal visibility across several regions.
As of this afternoon, the Salmi area in western Kuwait is experiencing a severe dust storm, leading to markedly reduced visibility, particularly in open areas and along highways.
In a statement released on its official X account Friday afternoon, the department reported that wind speeds are expected to exceed 60 kilometers per hour, generating widespread dust storms. These conditions may reduce visibility to less than 1,000 meters in certain exposed areas. Additionally, sea conditions are expected to be rough, with waves rising above six feet.
This weather pattern began at 3:00 PM and is forecasted to persist until 10:00 PM today. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, especially while traveling or engaging in outdoor activities.
