KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has obtained conditional approval from the State Audit Bureau (SAB) to award seven tenders with a total value of KD7.006 million. These tenders are for leasing various facilities in the passenger terminals at Kuwait International Airport, such as advertising spaces, food outlets, restaurants, baggage handling services, cafés and other commercial operations.

The lease periods vary according to the nature of each tender. The three largest tenders are advertising spaces in Terminal One and all related facilities, valued at KD 4.182 million, baggage handling services in the same terminal, valued at KD 1.750 million; and the operation of a café or snack bar in Terminal Four, valued at KD 414,000.

Meanwhile, seven companies are competing for the tender to supply, install and maintain the laboratory equipment at Shuwaikh Power and Water Desalination Plant for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) opened the offers of eight companies and disqualified one of them based on Article 40 of the Public Tenders Law. It then referred the seven bids to the ministry to prepare a technical recommendation for awarding the contract to the best bidder that meets the requirements. Through this project, the ministry will upgrade the laboratory equipment at the plant, which tests seawater before desalination to ensure it meets the international standards for potable water.
