Seven new decrees lead to citizenship revocation for 63 people

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: Seven new decrees have been issued to revoke the citizenship of 63 individuals for various reasons. Among these, three decrees pertain to the withdrawal of citizenship from 54 people, “most of whom are women,” in accordance with Article 13 of the Nationality Law. This article states that Kuwaiti citizenship may be revoked from individuals who have acquired it if required by the supreme interest of the state or its external security.

Additionally, two decrees have been issued to revoke the Kuwaiti citizenship of three individuals, as well as those who obtained it through their dependency. This action is based on Article 1/13 of the Nationality Law, which allows for the withdrawal of citizenship granted under fraudulent circumstances or false statements.

Furthermore, two decrees have been issued to revoke citizenship certificates from six individuals. These decrees will lead to the withdrawal of citizenship certificates by establishment, affecting those who acquired Kuwaiti citizenship through dependency on the holders of these certificates. This action is in accordance with Article 21 bis A of the Nationality Law, which stipulates the withdrawal of citizenship if it is determined that it was granted improperly due to fraud, false statements, or incorrect documentation.
