Supreme Committee revokes citizenship for seven in accordance with nationality law.

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: An official supplement to the Kuwait Al-Youm newspaper was released today, Monday, detailing two decisions from the Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigation concerning the revocation of citizenship for seven individuals.

The decisions were made in accordance with Articles 9 and 11 of Emiri Decree No. 15 of 1959, which pertains to the Kuwaiti Nationality Law.

Article 9 states that if a foreign wife acquires Kuwaiti nationality under Articles 7 and 8, she will not lose her Kuwaiti citizenship upon the dissolution of the marriage unless she regains her original nationality or acquires a new one.

Article 11 stipulates that a Kuwaiti citizen loses their nationality if they voluntarily naturalize as a citizen of another country. The Kuwaiti wife of such an individual will not lose her nationality unless she opts for her husband's new nationality. Minor children will lose their Kuwaiti nationality if they are included in their father's new nationality according to the relevant laws but can choose to retain their Kuwaiti nationality by declaring this to the Minister of the Interior within two years of reaching adulthood.

These decisions underscore the ongoing efforts of the Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigation to enforce the provisions of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law. Further details regarding the specific cases and individuals affected were not disclosed.
