Drugs sleuths attacked, arrested by cops
An officer of rank ‘Captain’ from the Drugs Control General Department (DCGD) and an officer of rank ‘Sergeant Major’ from General Department of Criminal Investigations have filed a case against two policemen from Ahmadi Security Directorate who attacked them and arrested them under false accusations of consuming intoxicants, as well as three other securitymen who had participated in the attack against them. Ministry of Interior has launched a wide investigation in this regard, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to security sources, the two Ahmadi securitymen were on routine patrol duty when they stopped an individual based on suspicions and checked his details to discover he is an Iraqi national. When they asked for his driving license, he said he did not have it because it was withdrawn from him. At that point, an officer of rank ‘Captain’ from DCGD arrived at the location and identified the Iraqi, affirming that he is their colleague in the ministry and works for DCGD.

The two securitymen asked him what ‘Captain’ meant and mocked him, after which they accused him of drunken driving, as he was coming from one of the chalets. When the captain told them that their behavior was unacceptable, they handcuffed him and called for backup. The backup officers arrived to corroborate the two securitymen’s claim that the captain was drunk. The latter was taken to the police station where he was detained under the charges of being drunk.

The sources went on to explain that the captain’s cousin, who is an officer of rank ‘Sergeant Major at General Department of Criminal Investigations, arrived at the police station to find out what happened, but securitymen attacked him and detained him as well. The arrested officers were later referred to the General Department for Criminal Evidences to determine if they had consumed any intoxicants but the results of the tests came negative. The sources revealed that Ahmadi Security Director notified the Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahd about the incident. Lieutenant General Al-Fahad immediately ordered investigations and stressed the need for accountability of wrongdoers with all resolve.
