Security intensified in Ahmadi to prevent crimes, sharp increase in thefts

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: The Director General of Ahmadi Security Directorate Brigadier Ali Al-Ahaimer has issued a circular to all senior offi- cials in the Ahmadi governorate that from Monday evening police patrols will be intensified in the residential areas from 10 pm to 5 am with the aim of reducing thefts, reports Al- Anba daily.

On the other hand, a security source said the total number of thefts recorded at the Jaber Al-Ali police station last weekend was 3 cases. In one incident, the daily said, the thief broke into the home of a Kuwait and stole gold ornaments, expensive watches worth KD 30,000, more than KD 30,000 in cash, 500 Saudi riyals, 3,300 Turkish lira, 300 Egyptian pounds and electronic devices.

In another incident, the victim claimed an unknown person broke into his home and stole a gold bracelet worth KD 500 and in the third the thief escaped with different items and a gold chain worth KD 600.

It is noteworthy to mention that social networking sites have circulated reports about thefts in Hadiya, Jaber Al-Ali, Fintas, Riqqa and surrounding areas which they say exceeded 90 since Eid Al-Adha until yesterday, which the Ministry of Interior has denied in an official statement confirming only three thefts in Jaber Al-Ali.
