KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: The Meteorological Department has forecast scattered rain across Kuwait over the weekend, beginning Friday evening, with unstable weather expected on Saturday and gradual improvement from Monday, the agency reported.
Acting Director Dharar Al-Ali said the country is currently under a high-pressure system that will recede starting Thursday evening, allowing a surface low-pressure system to move in from the southwest. This system, combined with another upper-atmosphere low, will bring relatively cold and humid air, increasing low and medium-level cloud cover, including cumulonimbus clouds.
Al-Ali said Friday’s weather will be cold to cool and cloudy, with variable to southeasterly winds of 8 to 38 km/h. Scattered rain is possible later in the day, with maximum temperatures between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate, with waves of 1 to 5 feet. Friday night will remain cold and partly to mostly cloudy, with southeasterly winds of 12 to 40 km/h and a chance of scattered rain. Minimum temperatures will range from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius, with seas slight to moderate, occasionally rough at 2 to 6 feet.
Saturday is expected to be cool to mild with cloudy conditions and unsettled weather in the evening. Winds will be southeasterly, light to moderate, occasionally brisk at 15 to 50 km/h, causing dust storms. Scattered, sometimes thundery rain is expected. Maximum temperatures will reach 19 to 21 degrees Celsius, and seas will be slight to moderate, rising to 2 to 7 feet. Saturday night will be cool to cold and cloudy, with moderate to strong winds from southeast to northwest at 25 to 65 km/h, causing dust storms. Scattered thundery rain is possible, with minimum temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees Celsius and seas moderate to rough, waves reaching 4 to 8 feet.
Al-Ali noted that winds will shift from southeasterly to northwesterly later in the weekend, gradually strengthening and occasionally exceeding 60 km/h, reducing visibility due to dust and increasing sea waves above 7 feet.
Today’s weather is very cold to cold with northwesterly to variable winds of 8 to 30 km/h. Maximum temperatures are expected between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius, with slight to moderate seas of 1 to 4 feet. Tonight will be cold and partly to mostly cloudy, with light variable to southeasterly winds of 6 to 22 km/h, minimum temperatures between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius, and seas slight at 1 to 2 feet.
