KUWAIT CITY, July 28: Kuwait Club handball star Mishari Sawan has decided to extend his stay with the team for another season, confirming that the upcoming campaign will be his final year with the club, which he has dedicated as his “Season of Loyalty.”

Sawan announced his decision through a post on his official X account, saying it came after careful consideration and amid mixed emotions. He added that the move was also driven by the strong desire of the Kuwait Club board, led by Khalid Al-Ghanim, while describing the club as his “second home.”

The experienced player expressed his ambition to help Kuwait Club achieve further success and add more trophies during his final season, hoping to conclude his long journey with the team in a way that matches the club’s legacy.

Sawan highlighted his 15-year spell with Kuwait Club’s handball team, during which he collected numerous domestic titles, as well as a Gulf championship, an Asian crown, and two Arab titles.

He also extended his appreciation to honorary president Marzouq Al-Ghanim, current chairman Khalid Al-Ghanim, and all coaches, administrators, and teammates who supported him throughout his career with the Kifan-based club.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Club has appointed Brazilian coach Marcos Oliveira “Tata” as head coach of the first team for the new season, aiming to strengthen its challenge for domestic and international honors.

The club selected Oliveira after reviewing several coaching candidates, with the Brazilian earning the position due to his technical expertise and coaching experience.

Kuwait Club has also renewed the contract of Montenegrin professional Vladan Lipovina and is nearing an agreement with Bahrain international Mohammed Habib to complete its foreign player lineup.
