Saudi sentenced to 7 years for forgery

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9 : The Criminal Court has found a Saudi Arabian guilty of forging the Kuwaiti nationality and sentenced him to seven years in prison with hard labor, says Al-Seyassah.

The defendant was found guilty of adding his name to the file of a deceased Kuwaiti and was able to benefit to the tune of 275,000 dinars by forging documents on the strength of his ‘forged’ nationality document.

The court also fined him double the amount he earned on the strength of the forged documents, ordered his dismissal from his job. He will also be deported from the country and barred from entering again after serving the sentence.

The Public Prosecution had charged the convict with seizing state funds through forgery and fraud, and committing forgery in all official documents.

In the indictment, the prosecution stated that the accused took advantage and applied for work in government agencies as a Kuwaiti, despite fully knowing he was a Saudi born of Saudi parents. Moreover, he was also charged with forging academic certificate to get jobs and the driver’s license
