RIYADH, Oct 19: The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen has warned against the use of traditional maritime vessels, including dhows and small boats, to smuggle weapons, missiles and military equipment to Yemen for the Houthi militia.

In an advisory, the coalition said such activities posed a threat to Yemen’s security as well as regional and international security, while endangering the lives and safety of civilians.

The coalition urged all owners of maritime vessels to refrain from cooperating with the Houthis in smuggling weapons, missiles and military equipment by sea to Yemeni shores.

It also warned vessel owners to avoid involvement in such operations to protect their lives and property.

The advisory underscores the coalition’s concerns over the alleged use of traditional boats and other small vessels to transport military equipment to Yemen through maritime routes.

The Joint Forces Command issued the warning as part of its efforts to prevent the maritime smuggling of weapons and military supplies to the Houthi militia.
