Saudi-led coalition intercepts six Houthi ballistic missiles targeting Taif, Yanbu

RIYADH, Sept 24: Saudi air defenses intercepted six ballistic missiles launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen toward the Kingdom, the Saudi-led coalition said.

Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al Malki said the missiles were intercepted before reaching their targets in the cities of Taif and Yanbu.

Al Malki warned that the coalition would respond firmly to what he described as escalations and violations by the Houthi militia.

“Escalations and violations by the terrorist Houthi militia will be dealt with firmly,” he said.

The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have repeatedly launched missiles and drones toward Saudi Arabia and other regional targets.
