RIYADH, Sep 8: Several energy-sector facilities and installations in Saudi Arabia’s southern region were targeted on Tuesday morning, according to an official source at the Ministry of Energy.
The source said the relevant authorities immediately began responding to the incident and taking all necessary measures to contain its impact and protect the affected facilities and personnel.
The attacks triggered fires at several locations, resulting in a temporary suspension of some operations. Specialized field teams were deployed to contain the fires, secure the affected sites and assess the extent of the damage, the source said.
Several citizens and residents sustained injuries of varying severity in the attacks, according to the ministry source. The injured are receiving the necessary medical treatment, while response and follow-up operations remain underway.
The source stressed that authorities are continuing efforts to address the consequences of the attacks and restore normal operations where possible.
Measures are also being taken to ensure the safety and security of energy facilities and personnel while maintaining the continuity of operations in line with approved emergency and operational plans.
The ministry did not provide further details on the specific facilities targeted or identify those responsible for the attacks.
