Saudi Authorities Issue Guidelines for Expats on Emergency Safety Measures

RIYADH, March 11: The Saudi National Emergency Early Warning Platform has issued a public safety advisory urging residents to follow strict precautions when warning messages are received. Authorities emphasized that prevention is safety and provided step-by-step instructions to minimize risk during emergencies.

Residents are advised to remain calm and follow official instructions, immediately move to the nearest safe indoor location away from windows, and avoid open areas, balconies, rooftops, and glass structures. Those outdoors should seek shelter inside a building or behind solid barriers. Drivers receiving warnings are instructed to pull over safely, away from bridges and tall buildings.

The advisory also cautions against gathering crowds or taking photographs in dangerous areas. Citizens who notice hazards should contact emergency services—911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Region, or 998 elsewhere in the Kingdom. Officials urged the public to stay informed via official channels, including 998.gov.sa and SaudiDCD, and to strictly follow the guidance of competent authorities until the danger has passed.
