RIYADH, Aug 25: Saudi authorities have arrested a man who appeared in a video allegedly sexually harassing a woman and touching her behind inappropriately and assaulting another person in a supermarket, the Kingdom's Ministry of Interior said on August 25.
Riyadh Police said initial investigations found that the suspect has mental health issues. Legal procedures have been initiated against him, with the case being handled in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
The arrest comes as Saudi Arabia continues to enforce its laws against harassment and behavior that threatens public safety and personal security.
Under the Kingdom's Anti-Harassment Law, unwelcome sexual statements, acts or gestures are criminalized, including conduct carried out through digital platforms and modern technologies.
Saudi authorities have repeatedly stressed that harassment is subject to legal accountability, with security agencies continuing to monitor and investigate reported violations and take action against those found responsible.
