RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, March 26: In a groundbreaking moment for Saudi Arabia's representation on the global stage, 27-year-old model Rumy Alqahtani is set to make history by carrying the Saudi flag to the esteemed Miss Universe competition for the first time.

Announced on Monday, Alqahtani, a seasoned beauty pageant contestant and influencer boasting one million followers on Instagram, revealed her upcoming participation in one of the world's most prestigious pageants.

Expressing her gratitude and excitement, Alqahtani took to Instagram to share the monumental news with her followers, stating, "I am honored to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This is the debut of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the competition," in Arabic.
