RIYADH, Apr 12: Saudi Arabia has summoned the ambassador of Iraq in Riyadh over what it described as continued drone attacks and threats targeting the Kingdom and other Gulf states.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered an official protest note condemning the attacks, which it said originated from Iraqi territory.
During the meeting, the ministry’s undersecretary for political affairs stressed the Kingdom’s strong denunciation of the incidents and called on Iraq to take responsibility in addressing the threats.
He emphasized the need for Iraqi authorities to act decisively to prevent further attacks, warning that Saudi Arabia would take “all necessary measures” to safeguard its security and protect its territory.
The move comes amid rising regional tensions and concerns over the increasing use of drones in cross-border attacks affecting Gulf countries.
