RIYADH, Oct 1 : Saudi Arabia has provided more than 224 million Saudi riyals ($60 million) in additional financial support to Yemen’s internationally recognized government, aimed at supporting its budget and helping meet salary obligations.

Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, who also serves as general supervisor of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), announced the new payment in June. The funding was disbursed through the SDRPY.

The Yemeni government said the assistance would help maintain regular government financial flows, stabilize the Yemeni rial, support the payment of public-sector salaries and enable state institutions to continue providing essential services. Yemen's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shaya Al-Zindani thanked Saudi Arabia for the new 224 million-riyal budget support.

The latest payment followed a much larger SAR1.3 billion ($346.7 million) Saudi economic support package announced in February 2026 to help Yemen cover budget, operating and salary expenses. The SDRPY said the broader package was intended to reduce Yemen's budget deficit, improve fiscal stability and strengthen purchasing power.
