RIYADH, March 21: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned what it described as blatant attacks by Iran against the Kingdom, Gulf states, and several Arab and Islamic nations, warning that such actions mark a serious escalation in regional tensions.
In a statement issued Saturday, the Kingdom accused Iran of targeting its sovereignty, civilian infrastructure, economic interests, and diplomatic missions, calling it a clear violation of international law, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817. The statement also said the attacks contradict the principles of good neighborliness and Islamic values.
As part of its response, Saudi Arabia declared the Iranian military attaché, assistant attaché, and three embassy staff members persona non grata, ordering them to leave the Kingdom within 24 hours.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security, in line with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, warning that continued attacks would have serious consequences for future relations between the two countries.
