Saudi Arabia Launches Crackdown on Hair Transplant Clinics

RIYADH, Apr 30: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has launched a wide-ranging inspection campaign targeting hair transplant services in dermatology and cosmetic clinics, as well as same-day surgery centers, in a move to strengthen patient safety and healthcare standards.

The campaign focuses on ensuring strict compliance with infection control measures in operating rooms, adherence to approved medical protocols, and verifying that practitioners are properly qualified and working within their areas of specialization. Authorities are also checking that facilities are adequately equipped, use approved medical devices, and employ licensed healthcare staff.

The ministry warned that violations could lead to hefty penalties, including fines of up to SR100,000 and potential closure of facilities. Individual practitioners may also face fines of up to SR100,000 and imprisonment for up to six months.

Officials urged the public to report any violations through the unified call center (937), reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to continuous monitoring and enforcement to protect public health and ensure high-quality medical services across the Kingdom.
