RIYADH, Dec 28 (KUNA) -- The Saudi government decided on Monday to extend shutting its air, land and sea borders, as well as halting international flights for another week, excluding exceptional cases, to prevent importing the new COVID-19 mutated strain.
This comes in line with the statement issued on December 20 regarding the precautionary measures aimed at protecting public health from the new mutated strain of COVID-19 that has emerged in some countries, an official source in the Saudi Ministry of Interior said in a press statement.
Cargo and emergency evacuation flights have been exempted from the flight ban, revealed the source, adding that these measures will be reevaluated based on health ministry's recommendations and the latest pandemic updates.
