Saudi Arabia Denies Reports of Strike on Prince Sultan Air Base

RIYADH, Jun 8: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense has denied reports claiming that the Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj was targeted, describing the information as inaccurate.

Official spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said that the air raid sirens heard in Al-Kharj early Monday were activated as a precautionary measure after a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen and later disappeared near the border.

He further said investigations and a technical review into the ballistic missile launched from Yemen on Monday revealed that the missile was originally directed toward a regional country.  The missile malfunctioned due to technical reasons, causing it to deviate from its intended course and generate inaccurate indicators regarding its target. The missile ultimately fell in an uninhabited area near the Saudi-Yemeni border, and authorities continue to monitor developments related to the incident.
