Saudi Arabia cruises past Australia at Asian Handball Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19 (KUNA): Saudi Arabia’s national handball team recorded a convincing 42–24 victory over Australia on Monday in a Group D match of the 22nd Asian Men’s Handball Championship, currently being held in Kuwait.

The tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the 2027 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship in Germany, runs until January 29.

Playing at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Hall, the Green Falcons delivered another dominant performance, controlling the match from start to finish and outclassing their Australian opponents in both halves.

The win marked Saudi Arabia’s third consecutive victory in the competition, underlining itsstrong form in the group stage. Hussein Farij was named Man of the Match for his standout display.

In another Group D encounter on Monday, Hong Kong secured its first win of the tournament, edging India 36–30 after suffering two consecutive defeats.
