RIYADH, Mar 1: Saudi Arabia has condemned in the strongest terms Iran’s attacks on its capital, Riyadh, and the eastern region, which it said were successfully intercepted.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement Sunday that the attacks came “despite the Iranian authorities’ knowledge that the Kingdom had affirmed it would not allow its airspace or territory to be used to target Iran.”
A Saudi diplomat told The Associated Press that a message had been delivered to Iran’s leadership in a bid to avert potential Iranian missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia. The same message was delivered to Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, the diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the person wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
