RIYADH, Nov 7: Saudi authorities arrested 11,587 people within a week for violating residency, labor and border security regulations, the Ministry of Interior said.

The arrests included 6,043 people accused of violating residency laws, 3,191 involved in illegal border-crossing attempts, and 2,353 accused of labor-related violations.

Border authorities also apprehended 1,678 people attempting to enter Saudi Arabia illegally, while 18 others were caught attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.

Authorities further arrested 29 people accused of transporting, sheltering or employing violators of residency, labor and border security regulations.

The Ministry of Interior warned that anyone found facilitating the illegal entry of individuals into Saudi Arabia — including by providing transportation or shelter — could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million (approximately $267,000).

Vehicles and property used in facilitating such violations may also be confiscated, authorities warned.

The Ministry urged the public to report suspected violations by calling the toll-free number 911 in the Makkah and Riyadh regions, or 999 and 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
