Salwa Al-Sabah Club emerges victorious in volleyball tournament

Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah crowns the Salwa team with the championship cup.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: The Salwa Al-Sabah Club’s women’s volleyball team clinched the title at the recent friendly tournament. The event, held under the patronage and attendance of Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah , the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Salwa Club, witnessed the Salwa team’s triumphant victory over the Iraqi Akad Ankawa, the reigning league champion in Iraq.

The final match ended with a decisive score of three games to none (25-20, 25-16, 25-15). As a result, Salwa claimed the first position, followed by Ankawa in second place, and the Lebanese Byblos team securing third place.The tournament’s conclusion was graced by the presence of the Salwa Al-Sabah Club’s Board of Directors, leaders of participating delegations, and Abdullah Al-Ghurair, the Secretary of the Volleyball Association.

Sheikha Naima extended her congratulations to the Salwa players, as well as the technical and administrative staff, for their outstanding performance and the acquisition of the friendly championship title. She emphasized that this victory was the result of diligent work and dedication from both the players and the team management. Furthermore, she acknowledged the unwavering support of the club’s board of directors in overcoming challenges and creating a conducive environment for preparation and participation in tournaments.

Sheikha Naima highlighted the significance of engaging with teams from Iraq and Lebanon, foreseeing a positive impact on the upcoming competitions, particularly local ones. She expressed the team’s ambition to not only stop at this victory but to actively participate and compete in future tournaments.

Munir Ishaq, the head of the Iraqi Acad Ankawa delegation, expressed sincere gratitude to Sheikha Naima and the management of Salwa Sports Club for the warm reception extended to the Ankawa delegation since their arrival in Kuwait. He commended the excellent organization of the tournament and emphasized the team’s admiration for the technical prowess of the Salwa Al-Sabah players.
