KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: Al-Salmiya’s handball side halted Kazma’s momentum with a 32-29 victory in Round 12 of the Handball Premier League, handing it a fourth defeat of the campaign and dropping it to third in the table.

In the round’s other fixture, Kuwait Club powered past Al-Sulaibikhat 40-34.

Kuwait Club remains top with 23 points, ahead of Burgan in second on 16. Kazma sits third with 14 points, followed by Al-Arabi in fourth and Qadsia in fifth, both on 12. Al-Salmiya is sixth with 10 points, Al-Sulaibikhat seventh with seven, and Al-Nasr eighth with two.

Round 13 actions begin today, with Al-Salmiya meeting Qadsia at 8:00 pm before Al-Sulaibikhat faces Al-Nasr at 10:00 pm. The round wraps up tomorrow as Kuwait Club takes on Al-Arabi, while Kazma clashes with Burgan.

In the First Division, Al-Yarmouk defeated Al-Sahel 35-29, and Al-Qurain shared the spoils with Al-Fahaheel in a 38-38 draw in Round 9. Khaitan leads the standings with 14 points, followed by Al-Yarmouk and Al-Qurain on 11 points, with Al-Yarmouk ahead on goal difference. The Youth National Team and Al-Fahaheel have five points each, while Al-Sahel remains without points.

The 2025-2026 Men’s Handball Super Cup gets underway next Thursday at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Four teams — Kuwait Club, Al-Salmiya, Qadsia, and Burgan — will battle for the title. In the semifinals, Kuwait Clubfaces Al-Salmiya at 8:00 pm, followed by Qadsia against Burgan at 10:00 pm. The winners will advance to Friday’s final, while the defeated teams will contest third place.
