KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12:  Kuwaiti rally ace Salem Al-Dhafiri secured the Middle East Rally Championship title in the T4 category on Sunday, with his compatriot Meshari Al-Dhafiri clinching the 2023 Baja World Cup championship in the T3 category.

The championships concluded in Dubai this evening. In a conversation with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), racer Mishari Al-Dhafiri revealed that the Dubai Rally, spanning three days and commencing on the 10th of this month, served as the ultimate stage for both championships. Unfortunately, technical malfunctions prevented him from completing the race, resulting in the loss of his first-place standing in the overall rankings. Mishari explained that his teammate Salem secured the championship title even before the conclusion of the Dubai Rally, finishing in the fifth position in the T4 category.

Reflecting on the rally, Mishari shared that there were 38 participants in the car and motorcycle categories, representing 22 countries. The race covered a total distance of 720 kilometers over two days, with each day's route spanning 360 kilometers. Expressing gratitude to the rally organizers, Mishari highlighted the significance of the event, where awards were presented in the presence of Mohammed bin Sulayem, the President of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). This recognition, he emphasized, provides substantial support for the championship and serves as encouragement for rallying in the Arabian Gulf region, showcasing the sport in its finest form.
