‘Sacking CID prosecutors will lead to huge loss in expertise’

Retain personnel till 70 years of age

KUWAIT CITY, July 21: MP Khalid Al-Enezi warned Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah against referring for retirement the public prosecutors assigned in the Criminal Investigations General Department (CID) upon completion of 30 years in service. He said this will lead to a major loss of officials with expertise in the field of interrogation, stressing the need to retain such personnel. He cited as examples the Legal Advice and Legislation Department and Public Prosecution that retained employees with vast experience until they reach 70 years, not 55 years old.

Furthermore, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim sent cables to President of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium Eliane Tellieux and Senate President Stephanie D’Hose to greet them on the National Day of their country.

MP Bader Al- Mullah has forwarded queries to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Muhammad Al-Fares about the criteria for granting annual incentive to the employees at Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). He requested for the list of employees who received the incentive and those who did not in the last three years, including number of beneficiaries in every department, in order to determine the causes of inadequacies.

MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji asked Minister of Public Works, Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Ali Al-Mousa about the former and current ministers and MPs, ordinary citizens and owners of companies who received plots and farms even if they did not meet the requirements. He wants to know the individuals and companies who obtained farms and plots according to ‘higher directives’ and the officials or institutions that issued such directives.

MP Osama Al-Menawer also asked Al-Mousa about the number of complaints regarding the frontliners’ incentives; if the ministry has the right to reject the complaints of employees; number of complaints and cases filed against the ministry in relation to the disbursement of the incentive, promotions and excellent performance bonus; and number of approved and rejected complaints, as well as those left unanswered until the end of the specified grace period.

MP Fares Al-Otaibi forwarded queries to Minister of State for Youth and National Assembly Affairs Muhammad Al-Rajhi on the exclusion of the sports complex project in Khaitan from the budget of the Public Authority for Sports even if the building permit was issued in August 2018.

He inquired about the projects included in the budgets of the authority for fiscals 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023; and why the airconditioning machines in the tennis, squash, handball playgrounds, offices of the secretary and Board of Directors, have not been replaced considering these machines are already obsolete.

He demanded for copies of correspondences between the authority and Kazma Sports Club about the establishment of the sports complex for individual and group games in Khaitan. MP Mehalhal Al-Mudaf asked Minister of Commerce and Industry Fahd Al-Sherean about decision number 146/2016 which specifies the fees for services, commodities and technical services. He wants to know if the fees have been increased, which is a violation of the decision; and action taken against those proven to have committed violations. He also inquired about Decision No. 147/2016 stipulating 250 fils delivery fee for meals ordered from restaurants in the same area and 500 fils for those located outside the area, without setting the minimum amount of order. He wants to know the penalties imposed on those proven to have violated the decision and if the decision is still in effect.

MP Mubarak Al-Hajraf asked Minister of Finance and State Minister for Economic and Investment Affairs Abdulwahab Al-Rashead to submit a detailed report on the profits of the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) for 2020 and 2021, including the operative profits and assets.
