KYIV, Sept 27: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday that Russia launched more than 2,200 drones, around 1,650 aerial bombs and 38 missiles of various types against Ukraine over the past week.
Zelenskyy said Russian strikes overnight killed three people in the Zaporizhzhia region and one man in Kyiv. He said a data center in Kyiv was struck twice in the morning, with three people, including two children, injured in the first attack.
He said Ukraine was continuing to work with European countries, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and other partners to strengthen its air defenses and pursue diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces had struck Ukrainian logistics, port and transport infrastructure, communications facilities and vessels it said were being used in support of Ukrainian military operations. It said targets included a Vodafone data center in Kyiv, a logistics center in the Kyiv region, two drone warehouses in Mykolaiv and a logistics center in the Odesa region.
The Russian ministry also claimed strikes on a Ukrainian naval base headquarters, a border guard facility, military storage sites and port infrastructure in Kiliia in the Odesa region, as well as a dry cargo vessel carrying military and dual-use supplies to the port of Odesa.
Separately, Russia’s Defense Ministry said its Northern Group of Forces had taken control of the settlement of Khrypuny in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. The battlefield claims from both sides could not be independently verified.
