MOSCOW/TEHRAN, May 28: Russia has called on the United States and Iran to avoid sliding back into armed conflict and to continue diplomatic dialogue, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

Zakharova said Moscow remains ready to assist in efforts to remove enriched uranium from Iran, while stressing that Russia is not imposing its initiative. She added that Washington has not accepted the proposal, which has reportedly been under discussion for months.

The appeal comes amid rising tensions in the region, following renewed military exchanges between Iran and the United States.

Russia ready to remove enriched uranium
Meanwhile, Russia said it is ready to assist in the removal of enriched uranium from Iran while urging both Tehran and Washington to continue negotiations and avoid a return to armed conflict. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Moscow is prepared to help address the uranium issue but is “not imposing its initiative.” She added that Russia is calling on both sides to maintain diplomatic engagement and prevent any further escalation into military confrontation.

In a separate statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned of a “firm response” if US attacks are repeated. The IRGC said on its Sepah News website that any further strikes by the United States would be met with a strong reaction.

“If this action is repeated, the US military will face a firm response,” the statement said.

The comments underscore continued volatility in the region despite ongoing diplomatic efforts by international powers to prevent further escalation.
