Russia Accuses Ukraine of Cross-Border Attacks on Germany, Kazakhstan and Iran

KREMLIN, Jul 28: Russia on Tuesday accused Ukraine of carrying out attacks beyond its borders, claiming Kyiv has expanded its operations to include targets linked to Germany, Kazakhstan and Iran.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the accusations during a press briefing in Moscow, alleging that Ukraine was continuing what he described as “terrorist activity” and widening the geographical scope of its operations.

Peskov cited the 2022 explosions that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines, which he blamed on Ukraine and described as an attack against Germany. He also referred to a drone strike on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), where Kazakhstan is a shareholder, and an alleged attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea.

Ukraine has not accepted responsibility for the claims.

Addressing US diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, Peskov said Washington has not requested a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington.

He added that contacts over the Ukraine conflict continue at a working level, while saying the US has not abandoned diplomatic efforts.

Meanwhile, Peskov praised Russian online retailer Wildberries for offering compensation to sellers affected by recent Ukrainian drone attacks on its warehouses, saying the company’s decision deserved “the highest praise.” He said the government was monitoring the situation but had not yet made any decisions on possible state assistance.
