MADRID, Apr 12: A potato farmer from rural Galicia, Spain, unexpectedly became an international internet sensation in April 2018 after a photograph of her went viral due to her resemblance to then-U.S. President Donald Trump.
The woman, identified as Dolores Leis Antelo from the village of Nantón in Cabana de Bergantiños, was featured in a local interview and photo session conducted by journalist Paula Vázquez for the newspaper La Voz de Galicia. The image quickly spread online, with social media users noting the striking similarity in facial expression and hairstyle.
Despite the sudden fame, Leis Antelo, who has spent more than 40 years working potato and cabbage fields alongside her husband, remained largely unfazed. She does not own a smartphone and rarely uses the internet, which helped her stay detached from the viral attention.
When her family showed her the memes circulating online, she reportedly laughed and dismissed the resemblance as coincidental, attributing it simply to her hairstyle. At the time, she said her main concern was not internet fame, but a moth infestation threatening her potato crops.
Her story has since been widely shared as an example of unexpected viral fame, contrasting sharply with a quiet rural life rooted in farming traditions.
