Rules set for collection of donations during Ramadan

Licensed charities must adhere to given instructions

KUWAIT CITY, March 22: The Director of the Public Relations and Media Department in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Ahmed Al- Enezi, announced the regulations for organizing and collecting donations during the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1443 AH corresponding to 2022 AD, reports Al-Qabas daily. In a press statement, Al-Enezi said that the department of charity societies and charity organizations, the ministry has put in place the necessary arrangements and procedures to organize the collection of donations during Ramadan and the licensed charities must adhere to these instructions.

Al-Enezi indicated that “charities will be prohibited from collecting cash donations in all its forms, whether at their headquarters, public places and other places, with the need to commit to collecting donations using the licensed means stipulated in the fundraising regulations issued by Ministerial Resolution (128/A) for the year 2016 and its amendments, through the Internet, online, bank deductions, electronic applications in smart phones, electronic collection devices, text messages of communication companies.

Prohibited
He added, “It is prohibited to collect donations in any form in unlicensed places in – malls and public squares – except after obtaining approval from the ministry, with the need to adhere to the places and times specified for collection according to the timetable set by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. He went on to say, “The charity societies and associations are obligated to use their bank accounts only approved by the ministry and comply will all instructions issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs, and write the date of the donation, the name of the donor, and all data clearly.”

Al-Enezi called on the associations to commit to giving a receipt after completing the data entry for each donor, and giving a copy of the Knet to each donor after completing the withdrawal process. Meanwhile, Al-Enezi has praised the pioneering role played by the Kuwaiti charities, a role that contributes to giving Kuwait a good global reputation in the humanitarian, charitable and relief aspect, indicating that the organizational process carried out by the ministry from time to time is to protect the rights of the donor and the association and to preserve the bright image of charity work in Kuwait.
