Royal to be in detention for 21 days

The Prosecutor for Media, Information and Publication yesterday ordered the detention of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem for 21 days at the Central Prison, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the Sheikh is accused of verbally abusing and threatening Lt. Col. Saleh Al-Rashed of the General Traffic Department of the Capital Governorate.

This came after the prosecution completed investigations with the suspect and after receiving criminal evidence against him, which confirmed the voice in the recording matched his voice.

The defense team of the accused is expected to appeal the decision before the Criminal Court to determine a hearing soon to hear the case and prosecute the charges against him. The defendant faces several charges including threatening a public official for not completing an illegal transaction, insult and libel, and abuse of the phone
