Rossi optimistic about success at Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: The Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship is set to kick off tomorrow, Saturday, and will run until January 22nd, featuring the active participation of 26 teams. On the inaugural day, a technical meeting and informal training sessions for the participating teams will take place, culminating in the opening ceremony at 6:00pm.

Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, the President of the Asian Shooting Federation, highlighted the formidable reputation of Asian shooting on the global stage. He acknowledged the significant achievements of champions and the pivotal role of Asian countries in hosting major tournaments. Sheikh Salman commended the outstanding efforts of the Kuwaiti organizing committee in preparing for the tournament’s commencement.

Underlining the tournament’s significance, Sheikh Salman emphasized the support from Luciano Rossi, the President of the International Shooting Federation, who is personally attending the Asian Championship in Kuwait. This gesture reflects the substantial backing Rossi provides to the Asian and Kuwaiti shooting sports.

Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, the President of the Arab and Kuwaiti Shooting Federations, emphasized the tournament’s importance as a qualifier for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. He expressed gratitude for the support from the Presidents of the International and Asian Federations, underscoring the successful organizational capabilities of the Kuwaiti Federation. Al-Otaibi extended thanks to the General Sports Authority, ministries, and state institutions for overcoming challenges to ensure the success of hosting the major continental sports forum.

Luciano Rossi, President of the Italian International Shooting Federation, lauded the impressive development of Asian shooting, with accomplished shooters earning notable titles in global championships and Olympic tournaments. Rossi, expressing confidence in the tournament’s organizational success, pointed to the high level of Asian shooters vying for eight qualifying spots for the Olympics. He recognized the State of Kuwait’s facilities, particularly the distinguished Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Arena Complex, and praised the experienced Kuwaiti organizers. Rossi affirmed the International Federation’s commitment to supporting the Kuwaiti Federation for a triumphant tournament.
