LONDON, July 27: Portugal and Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his mark in the entertainment industry after entering the world of television drama as an executive producer on a major soccer-based series, in which he will also appear.
According to British newspaper The Sun, the former Manchester United forward and Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer is behind the upcoming drama, which revolves around the world of football agents. British actor Damian Lewis, best known for his roles in Homeland and Billions, will portray the fictional agent at the center of the story.
Filming for the series has already begun, with Lewis reportedly spotted at Barnet’s stadium in northwest London.
The report stated that Ronaldo, 41, will combine his role as executive producer with an appearance in the show, following a production approach similar to the model used by streaming giants such as Netflix.
French soccer icon Thierry Henry, 48, is also expected to feature in the project, titled “Day 1s.”
A television source told The Sun that the series could attract major interest from streaming platforms competing for broadcast rights, with the involvement of high-profile names both on and off screen adding to its appeal.
The drama will follow the story of a prominent football agent, Stanley Dalton, played by Damian Lewis, and explore the behind-the-scenes world of the sport.
