Rodriguez takes charge of the Kazma volleyball team

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Kazma Club has appointed Brazilian coach Anderson Rodriguez as head coach of their volleyball team for the upcoming season, replacing compatriot Cacareto, who has moved to South Korea.

The Orange team had been training under assistant coach Renato Santos before the club decided to bring in Rodriguez as part of its preparations to compete for titles in the new campaign.

Rodriguez, a former Brazil international, has coached the country’s U21 and U23 national teams. He has also worked with the women’s teams of Swiss club Volero Zurich and Brazilian side Sesi.

Kazma further strengthened their squad by signing Brazilian player Lailson Costa, who joins Abdulrahman Al-Mulla and Fahad Al-Kout as new additions ahead of the season.

The club is seeking to assemble a competitive squad as it prepares for the new campaign. The remainder of last season, which was suspended in February due to security developments in the region, is expected to resume in late October.

Changes to the 2026-27 volleyball calendar also forced Kazma’s Indonesian professional Farhan to withdraw because of his international commitments. The club has moved quickly to replace him and is expected to announce the signing of a Colombian player, whose name has not yet been disclosed. He is due to arrive in Kuwait in October as the new season gets underway.

Kazma also completed its technical preparations, with Brazilian fitness coach Renato Santos and statistician Daniel Melo arriving to join the team ahead of the next stage of preparations.
