Roblox Returns to Kuwait with New Rules for Kids’ Safety

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has officially lifted the nationwide ban on the popular online game Roblox, which had been blocked in Kuwait since August. The decision comes after the game’s parent company agreed to implement a set of new safety and content restrictions requested by Kuwaiti authorities.

According to informed sources at CITRA, the lifting of the ban followed an agreement to remove content and language deemed offensive to Kuwaiti customs, traditions, and moral values. One of the key conditions requires the complete disabling of the in-game chat feature, which had previously raised concerns about children’s safety and exposure to inappropriate interactions.

The agreement also obliges the company to introduce additional safety measures and parental protections to create a more secure digital environment for young users. Officials confirmed that CITA will continue to closely monitor the game’s content and features to ensure ongoing compliance and to address any new violations that may arise.

The sources further emphasized that CITA maintains constant oversight over all internet-based games and applications in Kuwait to safeguard users, particularly minors, from harmful or unsafe content. The authority reiterated its commitment to protecting the public from digital risks, noting that any feedback or complaints related to online games can be submitted through CITA’s official app, website, or complaint channels.

This development marks a cautious reopening for Roblox in Kuwait—one that balances the growing demand for online entertainment with the state’s firm stance on digital safety and cultural integrity.
