Roads official suspended; Minister relieves top officials

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: Minister of Works, Dr. Amani Bouqammaz, based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers in its session held on November 7, has issued two ministerial decisions not to renew the tenure of two assistant undersecretaries, reports Al-Qabas daily. The two decisions include non-renewal of the assistant undersecretary for the construction projects sector in the ministry, Eng. Muhammad bin Nakhi, effective as of last April 26, and for the assistant undersecretary of the maintenance engineering sector, Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, as of last August 15.

Meanwhile , the Minister of Works and the Minister of Electricity and Water, Dr. Amani Buqammaz, issued a decision to suspend the Acting Director of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport, Eng Suha Ashkanani, from her work for a month, and to assign the Director of the Planning and Followup Department in the Authority, Eng Rajaa Al-Moumen to carry out her work, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Informed sources said that the move came in light of the existence of monitoring reports that criticized the measures taken in relation to some projects that the Authority has recently undertaken. The sources expected that the authority will witness a wide range of changes at the level of executive positions in the ministry over the next few days. In another development, the Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology, Haya Al-Wadani, has submitted her resignation to the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Mazen Al-Nahedh.Al-Qabas reports Al- Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.
