Riyadh Schools Closed for Week, Classes Move Online Through Madrasati

RIYADH, Sept 27: Schools across Riyadh have been directed to suspend in-person classes for one week and shift to remote learning through the Madrasati platform, according to reports on Sunday.

The decision applies to students as well as teaching, educational and administrative staff. Parents were notified through schools’ officially approved communication channels, with several receiving emails announcing the last-minute move to remote learning for the week.

“We have just been informed by Saudi authorities that schools must remain closed all week,” two separate messages seen by AFP said.

The reports said the shift would run from Sunday through Thursday, with classes continuing remotely through Madrasati and other approved educational platforms.

No official reason had been given for the decision at the time of publication, and the Saudi Ministry of Education had not publicly announced an explanation. The move comes amid heightened regional tensions and recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, but any connection between the security situation and the school decision has not been officially confirmed.
