Riyadh hosts WTTC’s Global Summit

RIYADH, Nov 28: The 22nd World Travel and Tourism Council Global Summit (WTTC) kicked off in Riyadh on Monday under the theme of “Travel for a Better Future.” The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqil Al-Khateeb as saying: “We are proud to host the WTTC in Riyadh, as this summit draws a road map for a sustainable and innovative future in which the public and private sectors participate, in the presence of a large number of ministers and prominent CEOs”.

For her part, CEO of WTTC Julia Simpson said that this event gathers the most outstanding leaders and officials in the travel and tourism sector across the globe to discuss its future. She revealed that members of the WTTC are planning for major investment estimated at USD 10.5 billion in Saudi Arabia during the next five years. The global summit, which will last until December 1, is one of the most influential travel and tourism events throughout the year.

The summit is being held with the participation of around 3,000 people, including world tourism experts from the public and private sectors, as well as many leaders and inspiring women in the humanitarian, public, and business fields from different countries, according to the agency. The event discusses some key topics mainly developing the travel and tourism sector and searching for attractions to meet aspirations of tourists as well as others. (KUNA)
