RIYADH, Oct 8 : King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Thursday urged passengers to contact their airlines and check their flight status before heading to the airport, amid significant disruption to air operations following explosions reported across the Saudi capital.
The airport said passengers should contact their airlines directly and confirm the status of their flights before proceeding to the airport. The advisory came after multiple explosions were heard in Riyadh and amid reports of missile activity targeting the capital.
Flight operations at the airport were disrupted, with several flights delayed or cancelled. Reuters reported that FlightRadar24 showed numerous affected arrivals and departures, while the airport issued the advisory to passengers.
The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed ballistic missiles launched toward Riyadh, while Saudi Civil Defense reported that debris from an intercepted missile caused material damage to a kindergarten and a medical clinic complex.
