RIYADH, Oct 13: Four Indian nationals remain in intensive care and four others are receiving treatment in regular hospital wards following the October 10 attack on Riyadh airport, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh said on Tuesday, as major Indian airlines extended flight suspensions to Saudi Arabia until October 17.
Three injured Indians have been discharged, according to the embassy’s latest update. The funeral of Mohammed Yousef Ali, who died in the attack, was held in Riyadh on October 12 in accordance with his family’s wishes. The Indian Ambassador and embassy officials attended the funeral.
The embassy said its officials continue to visit hospitals treating the injured and remain in contact with their families, providing all possible assistance.
Riyadh airport operations suspended
The embassy said Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) had announced the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Operations at other major airports, including Dammam, Jeddah and Medina, continue, although disruptions have been reported.
As of Tuesday, Air India and Air India Express had suspended flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah until October 17.
Akasa Air had suspended services to and from Riyadh and Jeddah until the same date, while IndiGo had halted flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah and Medina until October 17.
Scheduled Saudia flights continue to operate from Dammam, Jeddah and Medina, while Flynas is operating its scheduled Dammam-Lucknow service, the embassy said.
Indian nationals have been advised to contact their respective airlines and verify flight status before travelling.
Those facing emergencies who wish to leave Saudi Arabia may also consider flights from neighbouring Gulf countries, particularly Qatar and Bahrain, subject to obtaining the required visas.
Visa overstay relief for stranded Indians
The embassy said Saudi authorities had confirmed that Indian nationals who entered the Kingdom on visit, tourist, Umrah or business visas but were forced to overstay because flights were unavailable would be allowed to leave without paying overstay fines.
Those whose visas have expired have been advised to leave Saudi Arabia as soon as flights become available.
Embassy issues safety advisory
The embassy urged Indian nationals across Saudi Arabia to remain calm and vigilant, stay indoors in the event of an aerial attack and follow instructions issued by local authorities through official channels.
It also strongly advised the Indian community against circulating or reposting videos or news related to the ongoing events.
The Embassy of India in Riyadh, the Consulate in Jeddah and their outsourced passport and attestation services through VFS continue to function normally.

The embassy has established a 24-hour control room to assist Indian nationals amid the evolving situation.
