Reza Pahlavi says Iran’s future lies with its people, not foreign powers

WASHINGTON, Apr 13: Exiled Iranian prince Reza Pahlavi said on Monday that Iran’s future will ultimately be determined by its people, not by foreign intervention, during remarks delivered at Sweden’s parliament.

Pahlavi stated that regardless of ongoing military developments, “Iran’s fate will not be determined by foreign forces, but by the people of Iran,” framing the country’s internal struggle as one between “occupiers and freedom-seeking actors,” rather than political factions.

He described the most significant conflict as the Islamic Republic’s ongoing struggle against its own citizens, saying it has intensified over time with no meaningful pause. Pahlavi also criticized the government’s regional role, alleging it has extended its influence through proxy forces across the Middle East.

Highlighting the situation داخل Iran, he pointed to internet shutdowns and crackdowns on dissent, accusing authorities of silencing opposition voices and using force against civilians, which he said has led to severe human costs.
