‘E-renewal of health insurance leap forward’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: The decision taken by Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah to cancel the residency sticker in passports has received admiration, and will be implemented shortly.

The decision will end the suffering of some 2.7 million expatriates according to the statistics of the Immigration Department as of the end of 2017, and bring an end to congestion at immigration departments in the different governorates.

Resident Abu Sharif said the decision will help reduce crowds at the immigration departments and save the time of employees while Um Jamil opined it will preserve pages of the passport, given that many expatriates are obliged to renew their passports one year before the expiry date.

She urged the embassies of Arab and foreign countries in Kuwait to cooperate with the sector in this regard. Resident Ali Al-Hariri stated the decision is a step toward implementation of electronic government, adding there will be no need for sticker since all details of the holder will be put on the civil ID.

Citizen Abdullah Al- Mutairi affirmed the decision is a wonderful step but it will not end the role played by the residency and immigration departments when an expatriate needs to apply for family visit visa and other services. Another citizen Bu Hamad said the step will minimize crowds at the halls of the immigration departments by 60 percent, adding the renewal of health insurance electronically is a leap forward in the execution of transactions.
